Warhammer 40k Tournament Ideas

How many Points?
1500-1850, 1850 is the standard in a lot of places and as long as everyone's experienced with their armies we can play through it quick

Forge World?
Yeah, but I'm a little biased.

Lords of War?
I'm also okay with this. I personally don't bring mine outside of friendly games anyway, though I do have one I wanna try...

Bound or Unbound?
Bound, it makes you have to make some tough decisions rather than cherry-picking, but if everyone wants Unbound then that's cool.

Paid with prizes or free?
I think monthly tournaments would work best for free, just to keep people sharp. However, I think paid tournaments would be very cool.

I'd suggest doing them only a few times a year, so they're more of an event. You'll probably want a venue out of the store where we can fit a good few people in, so we can pull in people from other clubs in the area. Would be cool to get new faces and armies down for a big tournie, like the last one we ran where we got guys down from Norwich for it.

What Objectives?
Hmm, tough one. I like the idea of Relic, I think it'd be good to have a different Objective for each round, so a good all-rounder army is necessary to do well at each one.

Other?
I like what the WarmaHordes guys are doing with doubles tournaments. You could have doubles with 1000pts per player for 2000pts per side. They're doing it where you play one round together, then randomise pairs, then the original pairs face off against each other. Seems like it'd be fun.

On top of that, I'd like to see the painting events come back, as they were a good laugh and I think would be pretty popular. Could expand it to other games as well.

Kill Team would also be fun, and it'd be quick for each round. We could do a bit more with Objectives in that regard, perhaps some kind of mini-campaign woven into the tournament?

Lords of War? Answer: i think for 1850 or 2000 yes for smaller size no.

Bound or Unbound? Answer: either

Paid with prizes or free? Answer: perhaps see who would pay for entry on day/ no entry fee no prize while those who pay to enter can get prize?

What Objectives? Answer: for a 3 round tournament a different scenario per round so say emporers will, relic and one other would be good. just not maelstrom or kill points.

Other? Answer: i would like to do doubles tournaments again, with the allies matrix in effect. this would mean having pairs whos armys are better allies would favour them and off course would be better for people to orginise pairings in advance. kill team is also good. and perhaps a escalation tournament so say 1000 round 1, 1.500 round 2 and 2000 round 3 perhaps could work well, with each one have just added to starting list.
