Hi All, So we're just getting started on painting an army, and I have *NO* idea what I'm doing (this is a thread about painting, not a thread about army or model selection). If you didn't know, I've never painted models before (ok, I've painted *one* a long time ago... but that almost doesn't count)... For reasons known best to our selves, this is a space marine chapter called 'Chaos Kitchen' (working title, not my idea), and its a dark-angel codex. I'm in charge of makign all the support teams, and I have been working on these scouts... the colour scheme is almost the ultramarine colours. Basically, I'm worried about going too far with them: I know i need to wash the cloaks, but I'm a little worried about doing anything else - should i do more work on the guns? on the bodys? highlight things? more different tones of blue? I had pre-done two of the cloaks before cleaning them and doing it again, but the second time round actually wasn't as good as the test peice (The test peices had the wrong design) - had got the paint too thick on the second time. So I know i need to do the lenses on the head gear, and I was going to mod the sight just a little. But should I tone down their faces a little? (I'm not sure I have the drybrushing skills on such a small scale). I'm not sure what I should be doing on the sniper scopes - I painted part of the RPG launcher black, and now I'm not sure it was worth it or not. Please advise!

They look awesome, My best recommendation is to try not to add too much to the model as it can make a model look too busy, I would say paint the front of the snipers a different colour to the rest and wash the guns with a black wash, the rocket launcher suits the black nicely.
