Hi there, just letting you that both myself and Alex will be looking to run a type of slow grow league for Infinity and would welcome your interest and input to help it develop,
The idea is that we'll be looking to get everyone started with basic starter boxes at around the 150 points and play the final mission from the Operation Ice Storm boxed set and then add more points and more complex missions as everyone becomes more familiar with both the rules and their armies.
So let us know if you'd be interested in playing and what you'll be using, along with any ideas you might have and we'll it all up and running.
Thanks
Will

Hi, yeah this is something I'm pretty psyched about. Infinity is such a vast game with a huge amount of tactical options and rules to consider so organizing demo days and playing training missions to get people familar is really important. Missions will be designed to focus on specific mechanics to not overload the session. Once people feel comfident we can transition into actual campaign styled skirmish battles and persistent gameplay.
I'll get a post made up soon going into the specifics of -why- you should be excited to play this game because it's too much to riddle off here.

I'll speak to the other mods, but I think it might be a good idea, once you've got a date set and a really good idea about how the league will work, that we get a post in general discussion or a similar board to drive people here that wouldn't normally have a look. It will be really good for people who want to start something new.

I agree, I'm already on board for taking part, not sure how into it I'll get to be honest, but I do feel that games like this Malifaux, Batman, Bolt Action and the other non-GW/Privateer Press games that are not getting as much love in the store could benefit greatly from the support of these forums, so I am fully behind anything like this League, Callum's Batman Campaign and J-Mac's Painting Challenges and from what I can tell as are the rest of the other staff, in fact things like this benefit every line in the store, and we are very grateful to everybody who is willing to step up and run events like this.

I've not set a date - as I thought I'd check the interest levels first and also I'm not sure what day(s) would be best for both players and the store. I was thinking one day every fortnight or so, where players can turn up and play some games - loosely based around a league/organised play.
For example I thinking the format will work something like this:
Infinity slow grow league - same list vs all opponents, painted - base coated minimum (idealy!)
Game 1: 150pts - No sectorials, no tags, no hackers, no engineers, no remotes, no characters, 1 battle group - only troop profiles from the 3rd ed rulebook. Standard Scenario (scenario 1: Annihilation)
Game 2: 150pts - No sectorials, no tags, no engineers, no characters, 1 battle group, only troop profiles from the 3rd ed rulebook. Standard Scenario (scenario 1: Annihilation)
Game 3: 200pts - No sectorials, no tags, no characters, 1 battle group, only troop profiles from the 3rd ed rulebook. (Scenario 2: The armory)
Game 4: 200pts - No sectorials, no tags, no characters, 1 battle group, only troop profiles from the 3rd ed rulebook. Classified deck rules, (Scenario 2: The armory)
Game 5: 200pts - No sectorials, no tags, only troop profiles from the 3rd ed rulebook. Classified deck rules** (Scenario 3: Supremacy)
Game 6: 200pts - No sectorials, only troop profiles from the 3rd ed rulebook. Classified deck rules** (Scenario 3: Supremacy)
Game 7: 250pts - No restrictions. Classified deck rules (Scenario 4: Nimbus Zone)
Game 8: 300pts - No restrictions. Classified deck rules (Scenario 4: Nimbus Zone)
The idea is that the rules we will initially be from the Operation Ice Storm (Game 1) and will then add rules and troop options as players progress through their games. The scenarios will also change every two games to keep things interesting.

Oh god, there's lots of terms there I don't understand, like Tags and Sectorial, but hey that is the whole point of this League, to learn stuff like that I guess.

I know there's a lot of jargon there - Tags and remotes are Robots, Classified decks are specific mission cards (I think!) - and sectorials are a bit like theme forces from Warmachine..
The idea was, that we'd stay away from that kind of stuff, until the players are more comfortable with rules
