Just seeing the old Warhammer style logo on Age of Sigmar has got me very excited!
The models look lush and really interested to see what GW has in store for us, a brave new fantasy world to explore and battle across!
If you're an old fan or always thought about trying out a awesome fantasy battle game then this July is the time!

I'm quite excited, Fantasy needed a reset and to go in a new direction, for all that I like other systems, i.e. Warmahordes etc. I'm a GW fan, their styling, setting and to be honest the generally superior quality of their models. It's not like theres a company out there that produces the same qualtiy plastic models as GW.
I just want to be able to play my undead and skaven again.

Well considering I just couldn't get into fantasy before, I'm thinking I might like this. I love the world, I love the models, the characters and everything but the old rules. So bring it on I say!

Looking forward to it. It's created a verge of whether I want to play Warmachine or this though, really not entirely sure.

They are very different games to be honest, the mechanic in Warmachine/Hordes of Focus/Fury management differentiates it from other games on the market. As a Hordes player I'm looking forward to this as this seems a more laid back and casual game that lends itself better to campaign style play or small linked games over a day.

Has there been any signs from GW of a balancing mechanic, I'm not keen on the just discuss it with you opponent as frankly its very likely people will disagree on what is a balanced game.
I have seen it suggested that a simple method would be to use a wound count rather that model count to determine army sizes. As its normal for more powerful units to have more wounds per model this could be a quick and relativly easy to apply balancing mechanic. So for example 100 wounds per side, from what I've see the elites have 2 wounds and characters 3, while basic troops have 1 wound per model and monsters/vehicals have multipe. So if you want to run lots of elite models fine but you'll have less that someone who wants to runs basic units, say Skaven clan rats.
Not perfect by any means but it could work as it would limit the number of elites or monsters that could be run in a list, rather than someone running a 100 dragons vs 100 rats, which in theory would be fine under the new rules. I'm aware thats never going to happen but it illustrates my point.

I think that the main balance is supposed to come from the Sudden Death victory condition for the player with a third less models. This is effectively the equivalent of WarmaHordes caster kill mechanic, but only available to the player who is at a disadvantage.
Another thing that has popped up today is the equivalent of 40K's formations, which could be balanced against each other.
There are still rumours of a massed battles rule set that comes with points costs, but some are now denying this too.
As always its just a case of wait and see, and even then with GW's release schedule policy something could still sneak up on us.

So everything is pointing towards this being -it-. There isn't a 9th around the corner, this is 9th and the future of all WFB. Theres a big Reddit thread going on with a guy (who seemingly works for GW with the amount of praise being handed out) talking about the game after being demo'd for store purposes. You can find that here; www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer/comments/3bu52h/i_played_age_of_sigmar_today_ama/Take everything with a pinch of salt but usually mods require confirmation before people do these sorts of things. Its claimed there is no points, no balancing you simply ask what your opponent is bringing and bring what you think will become a fair game.

I don't think SVD is a balancing mechanic, if anything it rewards taking smaller elite force to gain an easier instant win con, GW may release a balancing mechanic later on but SVD it certainly not it
Just for example what if I take Character + 39 bog standard rats, my opponent fields a Character + 25 Chaos elites (cannot remember their name) so has a third less models than me, in all likely hood they already have a better force, rats or any basic troops aren't renowned for being individually good, and get to take an instant win con using SVD, not really a balancing mechanic. I know you could argue those forces aren't balanced but frankly I don't want to have to have prolonged discussing with my opponent about what models we're taking to get a balanced game. I just want to be able to say we both take this points value (or some other balancing mechanic)and then get playing.
This is all speculation I know

This is it apparently, but this isn't or even Warhammer Fantasy, that is gone, this is a completely new game under the Warhammer banner much like Warhammer 40,000 was a different game to Warhammer Fantasy.
This is GW's biggest failure regarding Age of Sigmar in my opinion, in that they have not been very clear on letting people know that this is not the next edition of Fantasy, this is the 1st edition of Age of Sigmar.

I do get the distinct feeling there is going to be a big divide over this game for a long time if things are as they seem to be.
Like you said though it is all speculation until more information becomes available on Saturday when the rules and Warscrolls become readily available.
